The BTX social network, like the rest of the platform, was designed with the Enterprise in mind. Each user has his or her own profile where personal and professional information can be added. User attributes include industry, specialty, alma mater, division, and interests, and are fully indexed and searchable by the system.
As an example, if a user is looking for an expert in Java or for someone with a PhD in history within the organization, qualified users can be found quickly. Once that qualified person is identified, users can contact or connect with them, depending on the permissions set by the administrator. Also, if a user or administrator does not want to share certain types of information with other users, that information can be hidden. Users have the option to show their information to everyone, to just their connections, or to hide that section of their profile entirely.
Each user also has a section called “My Workplace.” Here people can post their personal blogs as well as a collection of posts they’ve written from around the site. In this section, it's also possible to manage custom RSS feeds with an embedded reader as well as a number of other notification options.
The BTX smart social network allows users to securely connect and communicate across the enterprise.
